Multi Color Persian Hand knotted Gabbeh rug 2'11'' X 4'1''

Description

A Gabbeh is a handmade Persian rug which were traditionally woven by Qashqai and Luri weavers in Iran. These rugs are and were simple, whimsical or modern in design, often using geometric and stylized human, animal and plant forms.

The word Gabbeh translates closely to unfinished or unclipped. Originally these rugs were woven for the weavers use with the pile left much longer than normal rugs. They were sometimes used as sleeping rugs.

Most of the recent Gabbehs are filled with color with the weavers creativity being given free reign. There is nothing subtle or understated about them. The beauty of these rugs is their unmistakable uniqueness. I had one Gabbeh with a herd of camels, another with only a few simple trees. I remember one in particular that had wine glasses positioned right next to the humans on the rug! Some Gabbehs will have small animal figures whimsically placed throughout the field. You may see a simple rendition of the Tree of Life design, camels crossing the desert, a stylized sunset or the colors of the ocean with each rug having it's own individual qualities. A few of the more daring pieces have no design at all with only wool quality and variegation of color dictating the design elements.

? Choosing the right rug can transform your living room!

Size matters: Make sure your rug fits the seating area all furniture legs should rest on it or at least the front legs.
Style & color: Pick a rug that complements your furniture. Neutral rugs work well for bold furniture, while colorful rugs add vibrancy to neutral rooms.
Material: For high-traffic areas, choose durable materials like wool or synthetic fibers.
Texture: Plush rugs add warmth, while flat-weave rugs are easier to maintain.

Pallavi Moorthy

I absolutely love the hand-knotted vintage rug pillows I purchased from Pasargad DC. They look beautiful on my camel-colored leather sectional and complement my Persian rug perfectly, bringing out its rich colors and creating a cohesive, elegant look in our family room. The pillows are exceptionally well made, with excellent craftsmanship, and the colors are beautifully muted rather than overly bright, giving them an authentic antique character. What truly sets Pasargad apart is their outstanding customer service. David and Mohammad were a pleasure to work with—kind, responsive, and professional throughout the entire process. When I had concerns about wear on one of the pillows, they immediately arranged a replacement and handled everything with genuine care and generosity. Their commitment to customer satisfaction was truly impressive. I highly recommend Pasargad DC for both their beautiful, high-quality products and their exceptional customer service. I look forward to purchasing from them again in the future.
